The Song

This song was written in 1996 by Raquel Mora Martínez, editor of Mil voces para celebrar answering the need for new, accesible songs for the celebration of the Baptismal Covenant. The text is based in Galatians 3:26-29 and 1 Peter 2:9-10. It proclaims the nature of the Church as the people of God birthed in the baptismal waters.

The Prayer

This song is appropriate for the celebration of the Baptismal Covenant and services of Renewal of Baptismal Vows. It may also be used as song of entrance or closing song for any worship service
Consider the posibility of integrating a Scripture reading within the song in the following fashion:

1. First stanza sung by soloist, choir or worship team.
2. The congregation responds repeating the last two lines (There is only one God...)
3. One voice reads a few verses from the selected scripture lesson, 1 Peter chapter 2, for example. The instruments continue softly underscoring the reading. The congregation sings the last two lines (There is only one God...) at the end of each section.
4. At the end, the congregation sings the second stanza.

The lively and joyous nature of this sung lends itself well to liturgical dance.

In bilingual settings, consider having a soloist, choir or worship team sing through the song and have the congregation repeat the last line in both languages: Démosle la gloria y todo honor - Let us offer praise with voice and heart.
