The Song

This latinamerican hymn is probable mexican origin. In recent years it has been popularized by Christian singer Fernando Ortega.

It is a personal prayer of thanksgiving for Jesus’ sacrifice. The hymn writer is overwhelmed with God's goodness and realizes that all he or she can offer is the humble gift of this song mixed in with tears of gratitude.

This song may be performed as a slow ranchera or a ballad. When interpreted as a ranchera, consider using guitar for more authentic effect. Make sure the bass is accentuated on beats one and four. When interpreting the song as a ballad, keyboard and bass guitar are recommended.

The Prayer

The repeated lines at the end of each stanza provide a good opportunity to introduce this beautiful hymn to congregations with a soloist, choir or worship team singing the full stanza and the congregation repeating the last 2 lines.

This song of thanksgiving is particularly appropriate for the Offertory. Invite your congregation to sing the 3rd. stanza as the offering is brought to the altar. Keep this pattern through several Sundays so it may become part of the heart-songs of your congregation.
